Jim Hoenig has extensive experience in resolving difficult and complex family matters involving substantial property and business issues as well as custody and visitation situations. Over the last 18 years, he has mediated and arbitrated hundreds of cases in a wide variety of areas. He has trained judges in settlement techniques at the semi-annual Hawaii Judicial Conference and trains Volunteer Settlement Masters for Family Court. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America (in both the ADR and the Family Law Mediation categories) and is a Fellow of the American College of Civil Trial Mediators. In January 2006, Law Dragon magazine listed him as one of the country's "500 Best Judges."
